Getting SO big!

These past few weeks a LOT of things have happened. Sam has started sitting regularly now and can sit on his own for 10+ minutes. I couldn't believe it when he started doing it, it was literally overnight! But now he loves to sit and play, a lot of his toys are easier to play with while sitting, and he's discovered that and LOVES to sit now. He's also started to push his whole chest up when he's laying on his tummy, before he would lift his head and the top portion of his chest, now he pushes his whole chest up, one more step towards crawling!

I can't remember if I mentioned this or not, but we joined a class at the Little Gym and Sam has SOO much fun whenever we go. He loves the instructor and any chance he gets to give her a smile he does, she even calls him her little flirt, which I think is hilarious. He also likes to see the other babies and have baby conversations, which is adorable.

Also we moved him from an infant carrier to a convertable car seat.... *sniff sniff* my baby is getting so big!! He just got TOO heavy to carry around in one of those. I loved the conveinence of having one, but he wasn't comfortable anymore, it was on the biggest setting it would go and it was still too tight, plus his feet were about dangling off the end! He loves his new seat though, he's sitting up a little higher so he can see more.

All in all, a lot has happened just in the last few weeks!

6 Months

Age: 6 months
Length: 27 inches
Weight: 15.9 lbs
Milestones: You laugh sooo hard now at the silliest things, you are rolling really well from both front to back and back to front, you can sit by yourself for a very short period of time, and you try really hard to army crawl. You sleep through the night about 95% of the time. (Yay!) You got your first sink bath this month, you liked it, lol.

You got your first tooth a few days ago, and you're working on another one already! We've also started the 2nd stage foods and are mixing the veggies up, we're going to try meat soon too!

Favorite Food: You really like corn and sweet potatoes, and banana's and oranges.
Favorite Toy: You are starting to get really excited about toys now... but your favorite is a little rattle lion thing that your Nana and Papaw bought you for Christmas. You love that thing! You are always chewing on it and waving it around. You also are really starting to get into the excersize gym that Santa brought for Christmas!

What Makes You Laugh: Your Poppa makes you laugh so hard, just by doing random things, you laugh when we fake sneeze at you and tickle your sides, you are thinking about laughing at Peek-a-boo, but you haven't figured it out yet!
Interesting things that happened this month: Christmas was this month as well as New Years, you had a great time! You played in the snow for the first time and loved it!

What Mommy is thinking: I can't believe how big you are getting and that it's already been six months since you were born.  Everybody says that the time goes by so fast, but it's hard to see it until I think about how big you have gotten. Your cousin's Jude and Lily are proof of how much you have grown in the last six months! I am so excited for all the new things you're going to do in these next few months!

Gonna have a tooth soon!!

I looked in Sam's mouth this morning an saw that he has a white spot on his gums with a little red spot where the tooth is trying to poke through! So we are going to have a tooth very, very soon! I knew it was going to be soon sinc ehe's constantly chewing on things and whenever I feed him he's always biting the nipple... As much as I wanted to breast feed and couldn't, this is one of the very few positive things that I can see about not breastfeeding.

He's also growing like a weed! He's almost all grown out of his 6 month clothes. I put him in a 6 month outfit this morning and the pants are like capris they are so short on him! It makes me sad, my little boy is starting to get so big! He's also starting to pull himself up and try to sit...

Where did my little bitty baby go???

Update!

Yes, I know, it has been a while since I updated this blog... been a long few weeks, things are just starting to settle down after the holiday's and we are getting back into a routine again. A lot of my time has been taken up by exercising and focusing on following my weight loss program. (You can read about our journey here: The Caldwell Family Slimdown )

Sam is getting so big lately, he loves chewing on his socks now and whenever we put him on the floor he immediately goes for them. He's also trying to pull himself up to sit sometimes. Speaking of sitting, we're practicing that a lot right now and he can sit on his own when supported by the boppy pillow.

AJ got a new truck in the last few weeks, one that is much more family friendly, it is nice to be able to take that truck and it not feel super cramped like his previous truck. Other than  that, not much else going on, we have Sam's six month appointment on the 21st and we will see how big he is then, can't wait!

2010, the year in photo's!

January
January we got one of our first glimpses at our little jumping bean, this is an ultrasound that was taken at 11.5 weeks, I know you can't see much, but Sam was moving all around the screen when we got this. I remember how excited I was at this point, we were just starting our journey to becoming parents.

February
February marked the month where I really started to look pregnant, it was such an amazing experience looking back, going from a flat stomach to this huge round belly. This was the month I really started getting anxious, knowing that in only a matter of weeks we were going to find out what we were blessed with.

March
It's a boy! This was the month that we found out the wonderful news we had been waiting for. I remember when we found out, I pumped my fist in the air and about jumped off the ultrasound table I was sooo excited. I would have been just as happy with a girl of course, but I know I secretly wanted a boy. This was the month we were waiting for, we got all the nursery put together as well, AJ suprised me with it one day when I came home from work!

April

I had a 3-D ultrasound this month and I got to see Sam's beautiful face. I had 100 days to go in this month and it still felt like forever, especially when I was blowing up like a balloon! This was also the first month I felt him hiccupping in there... now he STILL gets the hiccups at least once a day! LOL!

May
This month really started all the fun stuff, AJ and I took our Baby Care classes as well as did our hospital tour and preregistered for my hospital stay. Looking back I almost want to laugh at that Baby Care class, it really didn't do it justice, I'm not saying it wasn't helpful, it just only covered about 10% of the stuff you need to know when you become a mother. This is also the month I started to really get impatient... and we were going to the pool all the time since I was so huge the water was the only thing that made me feel like less of a blimp, lol!
June
I was starting to get HUGE this month! I look back now, and I cannot belive how HUGE I was! And this isn't even at full term! This month I was nesting like CRAZY! I was constantly cleaning and straightening and trying to get things ready for my little sweetheart, I did get a chance to relax a little bit at least since a friend of mine took me for a pedicure, but I was ready to have Sam!

JULY

This was it, this was the month that we were waiting for. It was so stressful at the end, I was READY for Sam to come into the world, I was exhausted and hurting and just tired of being pregnant, don't get me wrong, I LOVED being pregnant, but that last month was hard! I tried everything to get myself to go into labor, but finally it happened!
My labor was EXHAUSTING! It took forever, but I won't go into it again, if you'd like to read it again, go here: Birth Story

July was an amazing month! This picture says it all, I loved him from the second I saw him, and so did AJ. There really aren't words to describe this first moment of becoming a parent. It is an indescribable feeling.

August

This month was a exhaustig to say the least, getting used to being a Mommy was a hard job. But a few weeks into it and we got into a groove. It was the hardest because Sam was still on oxygen at this point, but luckily it was only for a short time and I knew that he needed it. This month was also one of the best, I got to give Sam all my undivided attention and love.

September

This was an awesome month, I had finally gotten into the groove of being a mommy and I was rewarded with my little Sam giving me smiles! We also went apple picking with his cousin's Maddy and Ali, and we really just enjoyed ourselves this month.

October

This month marked a lot of firsts, his First Halloween, his first bowl of food, his first laugh, the first time he rolled over... All in all this was a wonderful month, tinged with a slight bit of sadness since I had to return to work, those first few weeks were definitly hard for me, but I realize now that I wouldn't really want to be a stay at home Mom... I thought I did, but working gives me a chance to have adult time and I feel like I give him 110% when I am with him!

NOVEMBER

Loved this month! Sam's little personality is just continuing to develop, this month he tried all types of different foods, since we started him on actual baby food instead of cereal this month. He also sat in the cart without his seat for the first time, and of course it was his first Thanksgiving. This was a pretty good month, it was nice to be able to spend the holiday's with family.

December

So much stuff happened this month, he met Santa, it was his first Christmas, we went on the Santa Express, It was just an awesome time, he loved every second of it too! He also started sleeping through the night (HALLELUJAH!) this month. I really look back on the holiday's and can't remember a better Christmas! It was so amazing to see him opening his gifts.

Looking back on this year, it has been the best year of my life so far. My life is 100% better with Sam in it. He is such a joy and such a happy little baby, he really makes everything worthwhile! Here's to an even BETTER year in 2011!
